摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the coding efficiency and the visual characteristic by rearranging sets of orthogonal transformation outputs at the same position or in the vicinity of the position over pictures from each camera and applying quantization and VLC to the result. CONSTITUTION:After an output from each camera 1 is subjected to orthogonal transformation by an orthogonal transformation device 2, output data from each orthogonal transformation device 2 are rearranged by a data rearrangement means 3 so as to be the sets of orthogonal transformation outputs at the same position or in the vicinity of the position of pictures of other cameras 1. Then the data rearranged by the data rearrangement means 3 are quantized by a quantizer 4 and coded by a variable length coder(VLC) 5 and the result is outputted. Furthermore, since the frequency component of the position block at the same position of each camera 1 of a multi-eye stereoscopic video image is often similar, a difference coding means 6 applies differential coding and implements quantization to increase a ratio of zero.
