A valve actuating mechanism for an internal combustion engine with at least two inlet or exhaust valves per cylinder has two first rocker levers 5, which each actuate one inlet valve respectively and are actuated by a cam 2 and 3 for a lower engine speed range. A second rocker lever 8, which is actuated by a separate cam 7 for the higher engine speed range, is arranged between the first rocker levers 5. The rocker levers 5 and 8 are supported on a common fixed swivel axis 6. The first rocker levers 5 can be connected to the second rocker lever 8 by pistons 12, which are arranged in radial bores 10 in the first rocker levers 5 and can engage in bores 11 in the rocker lever 8 which are aligned therewith. In order to ensure that the bores 10 and 11 align precisely with one another in the longitudinal direction of the swivel axis 6 when the rocker levers are running on the base circles of their cams, the rocker levers are arranged axially displaceable on the swivel axis 6 and are pressed against one another and against a fixed stop 30 by a spring 29. <IMAGE> |
