Improving the flowability of aq. alpha-sulphonated fatty acid mono- and/or di-salt dispersion prepd. by sulphonating the corresponding fatty acid (mixt.) with sulphur trioxide, comprises adding 0.01-5 wt.% (w.r.t. alpha-sulphonated fatty acid) solid having a mean particle size of 0.1-50 microns during the neutralisation of the sulphonated fatty acid with an aq. base. The solid is pref. one or more silicates, esp. a layer silicate, or a zeolite, esp. zeolite A, and pref. has a mean particle size of 1-5 microns. USE/ADVANTAGE - Useful for preparing anionic surfactant formulations. The water solubility of the salt dispersion is improved.
