A control method and a control device are specified which can operate two or more motors (M1 ... Mn) with a defined rotation speed difference. Sensors (S1 ... Sn) which are in each case provided supply pulse sequences in accordance with the increasing rotation angle of the motors (M1 ... Mn) or in accordance with another variable which varies on the basis of the respective motor rotation. The number of pulses arriving from the monitored motors is evaluated. Corresponding motors are temporarily partially or completely disconnected from the mains power supply depending on the difference between the numbers of pulses of the individual pulse sequences arriving. <IMAGE>
