An air bag device 50 for a vehicle passenger, comprising: a container 52 having an open front face; an air bag 58 confined in a folded shape in the container; an inflator (56, fig. 4) attached to the container; and a lid 54 covering the front face of the container. The container has its back face formed of external and internal back plates 78b and 78a (fig. 4) which are separate from the remaining portions of the container. The side faces 52S of the container are formed with hooks 88 folded through slits 90 in the side edges of the internal back plate. Bolts 80 are anchored on the internal back plate, and pass through flaps (52a and 52b, fig. 3) and the external back plate, where the assembly is secured with external nuts. <IMAGE> |
