<p>PURPOSE:To provide the subject new compound useful as an intermediate for HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, a kind of anti-hyperlipemic agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula I [R<1> and R<2> are each H, 1-8C alkyl, 2-6C alkenyl, of formula II (R<4> and R<5> are each H, 1-3C alkyl, chloro, etc.), etc.; R<3> is H or 1-3C alkyl; R* is H or protecting group for hydroxyl; Z is OR<9> (R<9> is H, 1-8C alkyl, etc.) or NR<10>R<11> (R<10> and R<11> are each H, 1-4C alkyl, fluoro, etc.)], e.g. 6-diphenylphosphino-3-hydroxy-5-oxohexanoate. The compound of the formula I can be obtained, for example, by condensation reaction between a compound of formula III (R<12> is 1-3C alkyl) and a compound of formula IV in an inert gas atmosphere in an ether solvent at <=0 deg.C (pref. <=-50 deg.C) in the presence of a strong base (e.g. n-butyllithium).</p> |
