The outlet opening (11) is on the top (2) of the cover (1) and is in the form of a slot (12). On each side of the slot is a bent-up section (13), covering the slot and being attached to the cover on three of its edges. The slot runs straight and parallel to the flow direction (S) of the canal. The slot may be bent into a concave or convex shape. On a rectangular cover, the openings may be set opposite each other along the edges or facing or behind each other in the flow direction. The bent-up section forms a trapezium or trough shaped tapered section. USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides for the water to be evenly distributed across the floor of the vessel. It is simple to manufacture.
