<p>PURPOSE:To decrease a transmission rate by generating a facsimile transmission part cell as soon as the transmission start of facsimile data is detected, sending the cell, and confirming a reply cell from a reception side so as to allocate a transmission band. CONSTITUTION:Voice data from a telephone set 4a at a sender side are composed into ATM cells by an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) composition section 5 in a sender side transmitter 1 and the cells are sent to a reception side transmitter 2. The transmitter 2 receives the ATM cells, an ATM cell decomposition section 6 decomposes them into voice data, which are received by a telephone set 4b. When a sender side FAX 3a starts the transmission of FAX data, a FAX signal detection section 7 generates FAX transmission starting cell including information such as a band and a speed and sends the cell. Upon the receipt of the reply cell from the transmitter 2, the transmitter 1 uses a multiplexer section 8 to allocate a fixed band and starts the transmission of FAX data. Thus, the transmission of a redundant part such as an ATM header and a trailer is not required and the transmission quantity is compressed.</p> |
