In the profile measuring method, two carriages(11,12) are successively and alternately moved wrt each other to the end of the inside section of a pipework. The first carriage(11) is placed at the pipe input at a set position, and its three-dimensional co- ordinates are determined with respect to reference axes. The second carriage(12) which carries a target(M) is advanced inside the pipe, and at predetermined intervals, its angular position and the target distance is determined wrt the first carriage(11) and the reference axes. Calculations are performed wrt the reference axes to determine the profile of the various segments of the pipework(2,3). USE/ADVANTAGE Provides simple, cheap and effective method of establishing interior three-dimensional profiles of pipework.
