PROCESS FOR AUTOGENOUS FLAME CUTTING WITH LIQUID OXYGEN In autogenous flame cutting with liquid oxygen, the oxygen is cooled off by a cryogenic medium, preferably nitrogen, to such an extent that the liquid oxygen jet which strikes the cutting site has a temperature that lies below the boiling temperature of oxygen at ambient pressure. This requires the installation and use of two different cryogenic media. In order to avoid this complex arrangement, the cooling off is effectuated by liquid oxygen whose pressure is lower than the pressure of the liquid oxygen used for the flame cutting. The pressure is preferably below that of the ambient pressure.
