A hydrogel with cleaning activity, based on natural, mineral water-dispersible laminar silicates is obtd. by heating the silicate at 180-220 deg.C, and dispersing, under sterile conditions, in sterilised, demineralised water. USE/ADVANTAGE - Body care compsns. contg. the silicate are used as shampoo for the air and the scalp, as shower gel, or as lotion for washing the face and body (claimed). The compsn. is microbiologically stable, consists of natural raw materials and relies for the cleaning effect on the adsorption force of the silicate. With the shampoos, the hair does not become greasy so quickly, dandruff is suppressed, and the natural sebum is not affected.
