A FLOATING INSTALLATION AND METHOD FOR TRANSFERRING BULK MATERIALS FROM A BARGE TO A SHIP

A floating installation for transferring bulk materials from a barge to a ship is disclosed. The floating dock (8) comprises ballasting means to submerge the platform (10) to allow the barge (24) to float in. By removal of ballast, the platform (10) comes into contact with the barge which is held firm. In this position, unloading means (45, 56) and conveyor means (70, 72, 78) enable the bulk material to be transferred from the barge (24) to the ship (26).
