PURPOSE:To reduce battery consumption by properly setting a heat warm-up time and duration for a fuel heating means which helps evaporate fuel. CONSTITUTION:When a key is inserted into an ignition key cylinder, power is supplied to ECU, and when startup is recognized as being blocked from the concentration M of alcohol in fuel and from cooling water temperature Tw, a heater warm-up complete discriminating value (heat warm-up time)Cs is set (S212) based on the cooling water temperature Tw and the alcohol concentration M, and when the heater warm-up complete discriminating value (time)Cs is smaller (shorter) than a preset power supply starting time discriminating value CB, power supply to a PTC heater (fuel heating means) is started at the turning on of the ignition switch so as to start heater warm-up, while when the heater warm-up complete discriminating value (time) Cs is greater (longer) than the power supply starting time discriminating value CB, heater warm-up is immediately started. Since heater warm-up is controlled with time, controllability is good. Also, since the heater warm-up starting time is varied, a heater warm-up complete time is kept almost constant and operation feeling at startup is improved. |
