PURPOSE: To make it possible to selectively extract organic solutes from organic solvents by using a water-based extractant. CONSTITUTION: This extraction method comprises a combination of various membrane separation processes with an organic extraction process, utilization of the membrane separation process to continuously recycle a water-based extractant and, at the same time, selective removal or concentration of organic solutes from the water-based extractant. By this process, the quantity of water used for the extraction can be extremely reduced and it becomes possible to effectively carry out the separation.
