METHO AND DEVICE FOR GIVING LARGE DELAY BETWEEN ORTHOGONAL POLARIZED LIGHTS OF LIGHT

PURPOSE:To provide the delay that only uses a polarization maintaining fiber which is much shorter than usual and gives delay between orthogonal polarized lights of a light. CONSTITUTION:The light which is made incident from a single-mode fiber 4 for incidence is split by a polarization beam splitter 6 into the mutually orthogonal polarized lights. One polarized light is propagated in the polarization maintaining fiber 2 and delayed behind the other polarized light by as much as it is propagated, and both the polarized lights are multiplexed by a polarization beam splitter 6 and projected from a single-mode fiber 9 for projection. A collimator lens 5 is used to couple the fibers 4 and 9 with the polarization beam splitters 6.
