PURPOSE:To prevent the extrusion of carbon and phosphoric acid from the edge seal part of a cell, eliminate short-circuit between electrodes, and improve reliability by providing Non-treatment parts to which no edge sealing treatment is applied on corner parts of an electrode base body. CONSTITUTION:Non-treatment parts 20 to which no edge sealing treatment is applied are provided on corner parts of a cell. When the volume of phosphoric acid is expanded at starting a fuel cell, thus, the carbon and phosphoric acid pushed out from an edge seal part 9 can be absorbed in the parts 20. Since the carbon and phosphoric acid are, consequently, never extruded from the side surfaces of the corner parts of the cell to the outside of the cell, the possibility of short-circuit between electrodes can be eliminated. When a water repellent treatment part is provided on the corner parts of the cell, the same effect can be also provided. Thus, the short-circuit between electrodes is eliminated, and reliability can be improved. |
