The guideways of the blade carriers (4,5) are in a guide frame which is horizontally movable relative to the fixed machine housing (1). Cranks (2,3) with shaft bearings in the machine housing simultaneously produce an opposed reciprocating motion of the blades and a horizontal oscillation of the guide frame. Corresponding to the upper and lower blade carriers, the guide frame (7,8) is divided into upper and lower halves which are vertically fixed but horizontally displaceable relative to each other to permit adjustment of the gap between the parallel remaining blades.
