The ball position detection arrangement contains receiver/ transmitter devices acting along the lines forming the edges of a court and arranged at different points in the vicinity of the lines. The ball contains a detector/transmitter unit (D), pref. in the form of a mesh between the rubber body (G) and felt (F) cover. The detector/transmitter unit (D) consists of a transmitter, a microprocessor (M) and a power supply (EV) part and it is elastically mounted within the ball. Two or more receivers at each of several defined positions are used to determine the ball position by evaluating transition time differences. USE/ADVANTAGE - Pref. for detecting tennis ball positions, esp. for indicating when it crosses a defined line. Enables precise ball location during play.
