Palms and other mediterranean plants can be grown in a weather zone, normally unsuitable for such plants, by preventing cooling down of the soil and/or the ambient atmos. For this purpose heat is generated in a ground region, or supplied to it by ducts. The heat is produced by a single heat source and simultaneously supplied to the ground region walls, the root section, and to the plant parts above ground by coupled ducts. Pref. a mains powered fan may be used. USE/ADVANTAGE - For in botanical gardens, arboreta etc. No need for large containers for plant growing.
