Compounds of formula (I) in which R<1> and R<2> have the given significance can be stereoselectively produced by the reaction of acrylic acid or its derivatives or propionic acid with a chiral auxiliary, reaction with a mercaptan, stereoselective alkylation and subsequent hydrolysis and oxidation.
