PURPOSE:To furnish a novel printer using temperature-sensitive liquid-absorbing resin requiring no running cost, in a thermal transfer recording system. CONSTITUTION:An ink holding body 1 which is prepared by laminating temperature-sensitive liquid-absorbing resin 1b on a base film 1a and in which the temperature-sensitive liquid-absorbing resin 1b is provided outside is laid round in a stretched state between a transfer part A and an ink supply part B. In the transfer part A, a platen 6 and a heat roller 5 are brought into elastic contact with each other with a recording medium 7 and the ink holding body 1 laid therebetween, while in the ink supply part B, a thermal head 2 and an ink supply roller 10 are brought into such contact as to face each other, with the ink holding body 1 laid therebetween. A part of the roller 10 is immersed in ink 9 in an ink supplier 8. When a part of the holding body 1 other than a printing part thereof is made to heat by the thermal head 2, the ink is not absorbed by the heating part, but absorbed only by a not-heating part, and thus an ink image is formed in the printing part. The ink of the ink image is removed by the heat roller 5 in the transfer part A and the image is transferred onto the recording medium 7 in a pressed state. |
