PURPOSE:To reduce at low cost the flammability of an organic macromolecular material represented by cellulosic material such as wood or paper. CONSTITUTION:The method comprises treating an organic macromolecular material such as wood, paper, hemp, or cotton with either a mixture of a cement and a solution of an inorganic chlorine compound such as calcium chloride or a solution obtained by removing the insolubles from the mixture, by coating, immersion, impregnation, etc. When this method is used to impart flame retardancy to a material for use in a building, etc., the effects of fire prevention, burning retardation, etc., are obtained. |
