PURPOSE:To efficiently produce large amounts of crocin and crocetin which are pigments of active components of saffron by the tissue culture of saffron pistil in a medium containing specific compounds selected from cellulose, chitosan, etc. CONSTITUTION:Tissue culture of saffron pistil is carried out by using a medium containing preferably 10-100ppm (based on the medium) of a compound selected from cellulose, chitosan, vitamin B6 and dipotassium glycyrrhizinate. The culture is preferably carried out at 20-25 deg.C in a dark place. The medium is e.g. Murashige-Skoog medium. |
