A cleaning head to provide a scrubbing action on a generally hard floor surface comprises an array of bristles (32, 33; 820) extending across substantially the entire width of the head, a liquid delivery duct (23; 630) arranged to deliver cleaning liquid to the bristle array, liquid retaining means (4; 850) disposed forwardly and rearwardly of the bristle array to co-operate with the surface being cleaned and retain cleaning liquid in the region of the bristle array, squeegee means (5; 650) forwardly and rearwardly of the retaining means to facilitate drying of the wetted surface, and suction slots (25, 620) disposed between the retaining mens and the squeegee means to draw liquid from the surface being cleaned by means of suction applied to a suction chamber (12; 520) within the head. |
