The magneto-resistance sensor has a measuring layer (2) which is magnetised in the layer plane and a bias layer (6) on one side of the measuring layer, exhibiting a constant magnetisation (MB) in the measuring range, separated from the measuring layer via an intermediate layer. The measuring layer magnetisation (Mm) is perpendicular to the bias layer magnetisation in the absence of an external magnetic field. The measuring layer is made of soft magnetic material, and the bias layer is made of hard magnetic material. Measuring contacts provide a resistance signal representative of the applied external field. ADVANTAGE - High measuring accuracy and linear characteristic.
