Spot welding of two parts - avoids excessive melting of the contact areas

Two components are welded together using the discharge of a capacitor by providing one of the components with pointed protrusions (3). Using these protrusions to contact the surface of the other component, the capacitor is discharged as a force is applied to push the components together. During the process the pointed areas are melted. The pointed areas which act as contact points have an acute angle of 30-70 degrees. The component having the pointed protrusions has a lower m.pt. than the other component. USE/ADVANTAGE - Welding together steel-copper, brass-copper, and various types of alloy steels. As the areas which melt are restricted in size, the deformed areas of the components are restricted. Discoloration in the weld areas is avoided.
