<p>A picture frame comprises a molded frame member (10) having a generally planar rear surface, a molded rear backing plate (20), and a molded elongate support (30). A generally rectangular housing recess on the rear surface defines an inner land (14), the inner periphery of which circumscribes the window aperture (14a) of the picture frame. Opposing peripheral walls in the recess adjoining the land have respective elongate grooves (13a, 12a) formed therein for receiving a protruding fin (22) on a first longitudinal edge of the backing plate. A sliding catch (40) is positioned within an aperture (25) formed on the backing plate adjacent a second longitudinal edge thereof and is engageable with a second groove on the housing recess to releasably secure the plate to the frame member. A first end portion (31) of the support has transversely aligned resilient sockets which engage respective hinge rods (24) formed on the rear of the backing plate across respective apertures to hingedly attach the support therewith. The small set of component members in the picture frame are unitarily formed and enable rapid and automated manufacture with economical assembly.</p> |
