A heat exchanger having a tube plate made from plastic and a multiplicity of tubes extending in parallel whose ends are sealingly accommodated in the tube plate, has a plastic water box which is fastened in a liquid-tight fashion to the tube plate by means of friction welding. For this purpose, both the tube plate and the water box have a flat surface which serves the purpose of joining by friction welding. In order for the water box to be fastened reliably - but detachably in case of need - before the friction weld joint is produced, the water box or tube plate is provided with means for gripping an edge from behind in a form-fitting fashion, these means and the edge being operationally connected only until the friction weld joint is produced. <IMAGE> |
