Each rotary traction lever shaft (33) movable vertically on the cylinder head (3) carries one end of a fast rocking lever (34) on which a pin (37) passes through two slow rocking levers (eg 39) with a slow roller (38) between them. The ends of the roller bear normally upon the top of the valve shaft (15) and a hydraulic valve-clearance-setting device (41) respectively. At higher speeds the fast rocking lever is lowered (46) so that a fast cam can abut against its tappet (36). At lower speeds a slow cam (26) contacts the roller. ADVANTAGE - Compact system guarantees sufficient stability for fast and slow rocking-lever mounting, with approximately equal loading of camshaft bearings and without unnecessary torque on valve shaft at high speeds.
