Die and stamp for pressing glass articles - made from oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) superalloys based on iron@ or nickel@

Die and stamp for pressing glass are made from ODS superalloy, based on Ni and esp. Fe in the non-recrystallised condition. The pref. composition of the alloy is in wt.% 20 Cr; 5.5 Al; 0.5 Ti; 0.5 Y; balance Fe. The starting powder mixt. is mechanically alloyed by extrusion or hot isostatic pressing followed by hot forming and final machining. Prior to machining the glass article is annealed at 1050-1200 deg.C. After machining it is polished to a high brilliance. ADVANTAGE - The die and stamp have good wear resistance and dull spots and flow lines are avoided in the pressed glass articles. The die and stamp do not have to be frequently cleaned and polished.
