Weight grade resistance Rw based on drive information of a vehicle, correction weight grade resistance Rw on which hysteresis processing is applied at an input value of the weight grade resistance, the objective number NPO revolutions of primary pulley responding to a throttle opening, an objective number of revolutions of primary pulley lower limit value NPL set to a higher value with the increase of an absolute value ¦Rw¦ of the correction weight grade resistance, and the objective number NPO of revolutions of primary pulley on which grip processing is applied at the objective number of revolutions of primary pulley lower limit value NPL are calculated. Control is performed in such a way that a deviation between the objective number NPO of revolutions of primary pulley on which grip processing is already applied and the actual number NP of primary pulley is reduced to zero.
