PURPOSE:To reduce operation time and to improve the accuracy by initiating the operation for path search and guidance when a vehicle enters a narrow region including a target, displaying a connection, and processing the position information from a satellite and a position on the map. CONSTITUTION:When a main microprocessor 24 receives the current position information from a GPS receiver 22 at a specific period, it compares it with the map information which is obtained from a microprocessor 27 for CD-ROM. Then, the current position information is corrected based on the statistical error between the last position information and the position on a map. Also, the processor 24 constantly monitors the difference between the current position and the destination of a vehicle which is set and registered by an operation key 23. Then, when it is judged that the destination enters a specific range region in reference to the current position, data link operation between wide and narrow maps for path search/guidance is initiated only for the narrow region. No access to a CD-ROM disk 28 requiring much time is made, thus eliminating a long operation processing. |
