PURPOSE:To provide a method of measuring pressure, volume and temperature characteristics, whereby fusion of a sample can surely be prevented. CONSTITUTION:A sample filling hole 1a of a cylinder 1 is filled with a sealing fluid F with a melting point lower than that of a sample R, such as Wood' s metal and silicone oil. The granular sample R is wrapped with a thin film of fusion preventing member 30 and inserted into the sealing fluid F. The fusion preventing member 30 is made from a material with a melting point higher than that of the sample R, and when polypropylene or acrylic resin is used as sample R, for example, aluminium foil is suitable for use as the member 30. After the sample R is inserted, a piston 2, an elastic material 18 and a rod 17 are assembled to the sample filling hole 1a of the cylinder 1. As the sample R is pressed by the piston 2, the temperature of the sample R is adjusted by a heater 10 and a cooling unit and the volume of the sample R is measured. This measurement is repeated while varying the pressure and temperature, so as to calculate the correlation among the pressure, volume and temperature of the sample R. |
