UNDERWATER POSITION MEASURING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To enhance tracking capability while eliminating erroneous detection by setting a gate for a receiving pulse to be detected next based on an initially detected receiving pulse. CONSTITUTION:A T gate signal generator 8 generates a T gate signal while a pulse generator 9 begins to output pulses at a point of time when the signal makes transition from Low to High and stops output of pulse upon provision of a detected receiving pulse. A T gate counter 10 counts the number of output pulses from the generator 9. An S gate signal generator 11 generates an S gate signal while a pulse generator 12 begins to output pulses at a point of time when the signal makes transition from Low to High and stops output of pulse upon provision of detected receiving pulse. Number of output pulses from the generator 12 is counted by means of an S gate counter 13. A signal deciding section 1A makes a decision whether the count of pulse corresponds to true response signal and then a CPU 1 operates the distance from a master station 20 to a slave station 50 based on the counts of pulse of both counters 10, 13.
