Overflow pipe with star-shaped rim - has ends placed at different levels, upper end with projections close to surface of liquid and lower discharge end below surface

The overflow for a reservoir has a drainage pipe (5) whose ends (6,8) are placed at different levels. The upper end (8) of the pipe is close to the surface (10) of the liquid so that the liquid overflows over the upper edge. The liquid is discharged through the lower end (6) of the pipe, which is beneath the surface level of the liquid. The upper edge (9) has several projections which are linked by recessed areas, and a rounded rim to direct the water flow. The overflow pipe is adjustable in height and can be made of plastics which is easily wetted by the liquid. ADVANTAGE - Liquid level is closer to top of overflow as design reduces surface tension of liquid.
