A household appliance - e.g. dishwasher, cooker, washing machine - has a door (3) that tilts round a horizontal bearing axis and features a hinge bearing plate (5) on both of its narrow sides. Each plate (5) is connected to a door spring (7) suspended on the appliance. The door springs (7) are joined to each other via a joint traction rope (9) or a similar device. A spring adjusting device (10), shared by the springs (7), is provided on the rope path and can be operated from the front side of the appliance. ADVANTAGE - Door weight adjustment can be carried out in a comfortable and upright position by the operator herself. The provision of one adjustment device for both door springs cuts assembly time and material consumption.
