A rear-engined car has the engine and rear wheels in an exchangeable module, and are attached to a subframe (12) with a pair of pegs at the front which clip into the main car frame at points just behind the base of the front seats. The mounts are made from flexible bushes in retainers below the car's side rails. The engine is supported between the side rails of the subframe by dampers. The subframe is fixed to the car's side rails by vertical bolts at the rear corners. A pivoted rear spoiler can then be dropped down to conceal the installation.
