摘要 An electrorheological material containing a particle component and a carrier fluid. The carrier fluid has a dielectric constant between about 3.0 and 7.5 and an observed conductivity less than about 1.00 X 10-7 S/m. The carrier fluid can be a silicone copolymer, a hindered ester compound or a cyanoalkylsiloxane homopolymer. The electrorheological materials exhibit substantial electroactivity over a broad temperature range.
