The guard is for plates, esp. ceramic plates strapped together in a stack for transport. It consists of parts of flat stiff material joined together at right angles. Each part (16a,b,c) of the material contains a guide (28a,b) at the outside and which is enclosed at the sides, this being at right angles to its edges. The straps fit in the guides. Two of the parts can be rectangular and the third triangular, and the guides can be formed by recesses. Parallel slits (20) can be formed in the rectangular parts, accommodating a holding lug (18) of corresponding width and thickness. This has a holding head of larger dimensions than the slits. USE/ADVANTAGE - Corner guard for plate stack can be automatically fitted and secured to all corners.
