A valve V, Fig. 2, e.g. controlling flow from a dispenser or a pressurized container C, Fig. 1, is actuated at spaced intervals by a continuouslyrunning battery or mains electric motor or a clockwork motor driving a pinion 23 which meshes with gear wheels 26, 27 each of the same diameter but having a different number of teeth. The upper wheel 26 incorporates a pin 28, Fig. 2, and the lower wheel embodies a pivoted pawl or cam 29. The speed differential between the gears 26, 27 causes the pawl 29 to contact the pin 28 at regular intervals, each contact resulting in outward movement of the paw] 29 to actuate a lever 30 connected to the valve V.</p> |
