The disc brake is operated by callipers driven on one side by a thrust piece (7) whose outer end locates against the angled surface (6) of the tilt mounted brake lever (4). The angled surface has an apex with a shallow angle with the thrust action caused by a tilt about the apex. The lever tilts about a semi-cylindrical bearing with needle bearings. The angled surface has two plane faces separated by the apex. It is simple to machine, with the relative angles determining the mechanical advantage of the brake system. The free end of the brake lever is driven by the pneumatic brake cylinder. ADVANTAGE - Simple to machine thrust surface, reduced hysteresis effect.
