PURPOSE:To obtain a glittering molding material giving a molded article having artificial marble tone by compounding an unsaturated polyester resin or a vinyl ester resin with an inorganic filler having a specific refractive index, a specific flaky glass flake and a radical polymerization initiator. CONSTITUTION:The objective molding material is produced by compounding (A) 100 pts. wt. of an unsaturated polyester resin or a vinyl ester resin with (B) 60-400 pts. wt. of an inorganic filler having a refractive index of 1.48-1.62, preferably a glass filler treated with a silane coupling agent and having an average particle diameter of 1-150mum or aluminum hydroxide (the filler may contain glass fiber as a part of the component), (C) 0.5-50 pts. wt. of a flaky glass flake having an average particle diameter of >=20mum and an aspect ratio (diameter/thickness) of >=10 and (D) 0.3-4 pts. wt. of a radical polymerization initiator. Addition of 0.05-2.5 pts. wt. of a thickener to the above molding material gives a BMC or SMC. A molded article having artificial marble tone is produced by molding the above molding material. |
