PURPOSE:To provide a method for simultaneously producing phenol and an aldehyde or a ketone from benzene and an olefin through one stage. CONSTITUTION:Benzene and a olefin are oxidized using an oxidizing agent such as oxygen in the presence of a heteropolyacid and a platinum group metal or a platinum group metal compound as a catalyst. If benzene, the olefin (e.g. ethylene) and oxygen as the raw materials are charged into a reactor and reacted, phenol and an aldehyde can simultaneously be produced. Further, the yield of phenol can be improved by additionally charging the olefin. Furthermore, this is a production method almost free from corrosion, reduced in by products and excellent in economical effect. |
