PURPOSE:To provide the animal cell multiplication-accelerating substance having a stable quality and capable of being supplied at a low price, and to provide the method for multiplying the animal cells with the substance. CONSTITUTION:2-(9-Methyldecyl)-5-(4-methylpentyl)resorcinol is added to a Dulbecco's modified MEM medium containing a small amount of fetal calf serum so as to give a concentration of 0.1-1.0mg/ml, and a mouse fibroblast NIH 3T3 is cultured in the medium.
