PURPOSE:To restore storage contents and to efficiently execute patrol operation by immediately executing patrol operation to the error address when a correctable error is detected in a normal memory access. CONSTITUTION:Memory patrol is executed while a patrol control circuit 1 and a patrol address counter 9 successively update the patrol address of a memory 4. When the correctable error is detected in reading data in the memory 4 at the time of normal reading access, data after correction by a data circuit 5 and its address are stored in an error register 6. In a next patrol cycle, a patrol is executed to the memory 4 through the use of the address in the error register 6 by making it to be a patrol address 71 by a selector 7. As writing data at this time is data 51 after correction, the memory contents of the address are immediately restored. |
