The relief valve has an actuating device (29), which acts dependant upon charging air pressure. The device consists of two chambers, separated by a membrane (31). The first chamber (36) has pressure charging acting in opening direction of the exhaust relief valve (30). This chamber is connected via a control line (32) to the charging air collection tube (15). The second chamber (37) is connected via a control line (33) to the suction tube (20) of the compressor (26) of the turbocharger (24), upstream of the charging air blocking device (27). USE/ADVANTAGE - Exhaust relief valve for multicylinder supercharged IC engine limits charging air pressure independent of two-charger operation.
