An engine 2 on a pallet 11 is conveyed to and locked in position adjacent an engine test unit 8 on a turntable 1 or a fixed support (43, Fig. 12) and is covered during testing by a cover 23 pivoted into position. The cover in one piece, a series of relatively movable segments (Figs 13 to 18 and 21 to 27) or a bellows formation (Figs. 28 and 29), which may include transparent portions, is moved by an electric motor through gearing. The cover may be located in a pit 41 or to the rear of the unit 8 when not covering the engine. The cover may be formed of stainless steel plates. <IMAGE> |
