PURPOSE:To inhibit a coloring of a background to make a bar code readable even if a thermal recording body is exposed to an ultraviolet light for a long time by a method wherein fine particles of cerium oxide compounded in a thermal color-forming layer provided on a surface of a substrate and/or an overcoating layer provided on a top surface of the thermal color-forming layer. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording body, on at least one surface of a substrate, a thermal color-forming layer containing a colorless or light-colored electron donative leuco dye, an organic acid substance for coloring the leuco dye under heat, and an adhesive as main components is provided. On a top surface of the thermal color-forming layer, an overcoating layer containing a water-soluble resin and/or a water-dispersible resin, a crosslinking agent, and a pigment as main components is provided. In this invention, cerium oxide fine particles are compounded in the thermal color-forming layer and/or the overcoating layer. In this manner, a coloring of a background is inhibited to keep a high contrast and make a bar code readable even if the thermal recording body is exposed to an ultraviolet light for a long time. |
