PURPOSE: To provide a linear drive for a belt pretensioner in a vehicle safety belt system which is suitable for incorporating in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle due to an elongated slim configuration. CONSTITUTION: A gas generator 20 is provided with an impact fuse interacting with a spring-loaded striker 32. The striker 32 is retained at a rest position by a locking mechanism. It is possible to release the striker 32 for unlocking by a slidable sensor inertial body 26 provided in a housing 12. The housing accommodating the gas generator 20 is positioned in the elongation of a cylinder 10 connected rigidly thereto. The sensor inertial body 26 and striker 32 are movable in parallel with an axial line of the cylinder, thereby attaining a slim configuration. |
