PURPOSE:To produce inexpensively and efficiently a polyarylene sulfide excelling in flow and mechanical strengths and reduced in the formation of flashes and gases during molding. CONSTITUTION:A polyarylene sulfide obtained by reacting a polyhaloaromatic compound with an alkali metal sulfide in the presence of an alkali metal carboxylate in a polar organic solvent is recovered by flashing, washed with an aqueous acid solution, and cured to a melt flow rate of 1000 or below. |
